On March 20, 2009 we will have a professional developement day. We will be learning about and exploring NoodleTools; the citation web-site the district has agreed to use to assist in student research and citation. It is an exciting tool because it is not just a citation maker, it offers a notecard function which guides students in the research/inquiry process.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Nashoba Regional School District Library Wiki
Hello and welcome to the Nashoba Regional School District Library Wiki. It is my hope that the librarians in the district will use this wiki to share resources and ideas. We can share information literacy lessons, interesting web links; and thoughts on books - those that our students are reading, as well as what we are reading.
Learning with Blogs and Wikis - this article from Educational Leadership is inspirational for us as we begin to use this wiki as a way to share resources and ideas. The article promotes using blogs and wikis as professional development tools. Since we have fewer professional development days, these technologies could be just what we need to collaborate and share ideas.
Creative and Critical Thinking - and Bloom's Taxonomy is an excellent site to get us thinking about ways to help teachers create projects that require higher level, creative thinking skills.
Resources for School Librarians is an excellent source for, well, resources for school librarians. There are lesson plans, tutorials on how to create a mission statement, collection development and of course Web 2.0.

Wissahickson School EToolBox is a wiki that has a wealth of information about Web 2.0 tools. There are tutorials complete with how-to or explanatory videos. This is a very useful wiki!
Diigo is probably my favorite social bookmarking site. You can bookmark a web-site, and then highlight text and add online sticky notes. One of my favorite benefits is that you can join groups that share a similar interest. I am a member of Joyce Valenza's Teacher-Librarian group. As a member, I can see what other librarians are bookmarking; I have found great web-sites as a result.

We have had a group since September, and we are really enjoying it. The kids seem to love it...I think the homemade cookies help!!
One of our toughest issues is picking a book that everyone will enjoy. We resorted to putting titles in a bag, and choosing that way. The titles were originally chosen from ALA Best Books for Young Adults and Teenreads.com. Any suggestions?
